The Captains' December Catch Up (posted 8th January.)

We should be reporting on our successful Winter Handicap last week and the end of our 2020 calendar... but the weather disagreed and now we run this weekend with even more restrictions. So I'd like to say a massive thank you to the Committee for adapting the event so it can still take place, with more than 120 members signed up.

As always we've been busy through December with the Evilsprock 10k, the Reindeer runs for the Prince of Wales Hospice and the 5k Turkey Trot. Along with training nights and our 5k weekend series.

Continuing from last month, both the Evilsprock 10k and Turkey Trot 5k were split into 2 events to fit with restrictions. We had a great turn out for both events, so a massive well done to everyone taking part in both races with some great times and lots of PB's. It was great that some of our junior members could join in the 5k, and a special mention to Will Horobin for finishing 18th overall out of 112 runners.

Some members have even found external races to take part in with Simon Edwards-BarberEmma Jane Evans and Mark Leadbeater taking a clean sweep of the trophies at the Grim up North Canal Race, where Dave Allison was 1st place in the 5k and Lucy Vamplew was 2nd lady. Sarah Cooper and Debbie Sidwell came 2nd and 3rd in the half marathon. Finally James Roberts came second in the Christmas 5k in Sheffield, so great performances all round.

Also a massive well done to everyone for taking part in the weekend 5k series, especially the 13 who took part in every event (39 weeks):

Steve Berry

Wendy Berry

Emma Woodhall

Dawn Collins

Cary Bernard

Su Smith

Emma Smith

Dave Cooper

Joe Worthington

Mark Leadbeater

Dawn Sketchley

Christine Hall

Adrian Leach.

Don't worry though, we'll be starting the next 5k series next week, so we'll still be encouraging you to get out for 5k every weekend... More details soon.
