Handicap Series 2024
We organise 4 seasonal handicap races for members over distances from 5-10 miles. Target times are calculated for each runner based on recorded race results where available or our handicappers assessment in their absence! Results are based on race time relative to target time. Trophies are awarded to the male and female beating their target by the largest amount - with the overall winner being the better of the two results
Points are awarded for each of the 4 runs - best of each gender gets 50 points, with each subsequent place dropping points based on the number of runners. The top 3 receive trophies at the following year's Awards Evening.

Spring Handicap with Goole Viking Striders
Wednesday 17th April - 7:00pm start.
Venue is the Westfield Bank Sports Complex. The postcode is DN14 5PW BUT SOME SAT NAVS WILL NOT TAKE YOU TO THE COMPLEX SO PLEASE USE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS:
Take the M62 eastbound towards Goole. Please note that the Ouse Bridge just before junction 38 (Howden) has ongoing repair works and lane closures.
There are 2 options:
1: leave at junction 36 and turn right onto the A614 towards Goole. Stay on the A614 which avoids Goole town centre. Pass over the M62 then in approx 0.5 miles at a mini roundabout turn right into Hook Lane (which becomes Westfield Lane) passing UNDER the M62 Ouse Bridge. The Sports Complex is approx 1 mile on the right hand side (look for Goole Rugby Ground).
2: Leave at junction 37 which is immediately after crossing the Ouse Bridge (stay in the nearside lane when entering the contraflow). Turn left towards Howden then left at the first roundabout. Bear left at the next roundabout to pass over the old Boothferry bridge then left again at the mini roundabout into Hook Lane. The Sports Complex is in approx 1 mile on the right.
