The April committee meeting took place on a sunny spring evening at the New Inn in Walton, with ten members present. A strong agenda covered everything from finances and membership to upcoming events and website developments, reflecting what has been a particularly busy period for the club.

The news from the Chair was that ARR has reattained its 7/7 rating against England Athletics Club standards — a fantastic result and a real credit to those who worked hard to achieve it. On the membership front, an impressive 307 members have renewed for 2026 — a tremendous result that reflects the strength and appeal of the club. The new club website is also ready to launch, the Volunteers League is set to go live as a new addition to the GP competition, and arrangements for both the Spring Handicap on 29th April and Summer Handicap on 24th June are progressing well. Debbie Worthington was welcomed as a co-opted committee member, and the Couch to 5K programme is up and running with ten participants enjoying their first sessions.

Ben Tanguay provided updates on several upcoming events. The Priory 10k is shaping up well with 100 entries already in and a pacing team in place, while the KB10k — held entirely within Frickley Country Park in honour of Ken Bingley — promises to be a particularly meaningful event, with Ken’s family approached to share his story for the race publicity. The Chair thanked Ben for all his efforts.

On the financial side, the treasurer reported a healthy month with notable income from membership subscriptions, the Pontefract PECO event, and C25K payments, alongside a £640 donation split equally between the MS Trust and Yorkshire Air Ambulance from the Awards Night raffle. The meeting closed at 20:30, with the next committee meeting scheduled for 13th May at the New Inn.
