For those of you that don’t know me (Bill Winder) I am on the committee as the web site/social media person. I am excited to let everyone know about the launch of a new web site for Ackworth Road Runners.
The web site will hopefully help us get new members but also provide some interesting stuff for existing ones, such as running results, all our future events, and alot more. Here’s a few things I just want to highlight:
- A link to our weekly training schedule is at the top of every page (“Training This Week”), meaning you can quickly find what’s on training wise during the week
- There is a full events calendar of all our GP races, trail series races, social events and any other races where there will be other Ackworth runners. This is under Events & Races> Events Calendar, or click here. There are a few running events on the page I have put under the **Star List**, in particular Nostell 10k and Ken Bingley Memorial, two brilliant races organised by ARR
- Also there is now a page about ARR club’s beautiful history, I found this really interesting when putting the web site together, about how the club was founded and all about the original members – a few of them still have club records! They did a crazy trip running back from Monaco to Ackworth one year, nuts!
- Quite alot of the other content on the site is actually the same as the previous site – I thank those who’ve worked on the site and club documents before to produce all this good stuff. There is the race results data, GP league tables, age grading calculator, club documents and more. Feel free to have a good browse around!
Add the Site As a Phone App
You can add the site as an icon on your phone home screen (see picture), along with your other apps, which I think is pretty cool if you want to regularly access the training schedule and events calendar!
To do this on iphone tap on the Share button (up arrow in a square), then Add to Home Screen. On Android I think you tap the three-dot menu (⋮), then Add to Home screen. Then you will have the latest training and events always easily accessible. Screen shot below of how it looks…

Finally, you can also read my “Meet the Committee” intro!
