Trail Series

The races are all organised by local clubs and will be under £10 each to enter (with the exception of the Dewsbury Flat Cap race, but you do get a pie!). Most are between 4 and 5 miles and we have a 10K included too. These are suitable for all abilities and offer an introduction to trail running whilst still being challenging and great fun for more experienced runners. These are all low key local events, and some even have food and drinks after.

Scoring

To make this an even playing field for all members, we’ll be using a handicap scoring system — as with our handicap series, using the 5 mile target times. Scoring will be done by taking your best 5 scores from the possible 10 races, with regular updates through the series.

The best result against handicap target time gets 10 points, next 9 points and so on — and everyone who takes part will get at least 1 point for any race they complete. The winners will receive their hard-earned trophies at the club awards night.

For Trunce, your best time from the season will count at the end of the competition, so it doesn’t matter if you do one, some or all nine.

The Spirit of the Series

Although the main reason for the series is to give members the opportunity to try trail running and enjoy running in completely different environments, the focus is on fun, challenging yourself, and not worrying about pace and times — as every race is completely different.
