Winter Handicap 3 Jan 2021
The first of our 4 seasonal Handicap runs when you compete against yourself to try and match or even beat the time set for you by our handicapper. The course is 10 miles with a shorter option for those not yet up to the full distance.
Trophies for the best performance by male/female for both distances. We also award points for each of the 4 handicap races with tophies awarded to the top 3 males/females.
This year we are also using the 10m event as a qualifying time for the 2020 Age Grading Awards and as the final event in the 2020 Grand Prix.
2020 Event Report: A Great Start to the Year
- it seemed to go downhill after that!
This year's new course only had one ascent of the Turkey Farm Hill - but the consensus was it was still tough! Notwithstanding this there were some terrific runs with 29 of the 94 who completed the 10m course recording or establishing pb times. This may well be the result of the run format being a staggered start or maybe the challenge of the target times set by our handicapper!
First home and overall winner of the 10m was Chris Hartley who was 3:53 under his target. Emma Aldred again conquered the course to be the Female winner with a new pb time 1:50 under her target. 17 runners managed to get under their target.
In the 5.8m run, Richard Milner was the overall winner, beating his target by 2:08 whilst Donna Richardson was first lady, 22 secs under her target. Haley Goldthorpe was the only other under her target (1 sec).
A big thank you to our 'army' of volunteers at the cricket ground, out on the course plus our Water Station crew (the Staffords).
Trophies to the winners will be presented at the Awards Night on Friday 7th Feb - good reason to buy tickets!
