"Rainbow League" - our new league following on from the Carnivorous league's success.

To add a bit of competition and virtual socialising to your solo runs we have launched our latest virtual league using lots of the PECO Cross Country ideas together with our favourite weekly parkrun 5ks.

Members have been divided into 7 teams named after the colours of the rainbow. We have tried to balance the teams in terms of a cross section of paces and participation in the Carnivorous League. There are 39 or 40 members in each team. –

All you have to do is run a 5k at any time on a Saturday. it doesn’t matter if it’s not the exact distance - times will be adjusted – but it must be a minimum of 3 miles (4.8k). No stopping your Garmin for rests – must be elapsed time. If you want to run a longer distance –no problem – but your pace may be affected.

As with Peco everyone who participates influences their team score or affects the scores of other teams. The fastest person overall gets 1 point, second 2 etc. for as many runners who participate that week.

Open League Scoring:

The fastest 15 for each team to count – irrespective of gender. If your team doesn’t have 15 scorers, missing places receive last place points for that week. Eg if there are 88 runners that week and you only have 8 to count, your 9th and 10th places are awarded 89 points each.

Weekly Team points are allocated based on the cumulative scores. Those with the lowest count get 1, those with the most get 7.

Ladies League Scoring:

The fastest 8 for each team count – same scoring method as Open league.

Mixed Vets Leagues Scoring:

This is a change from the Carnivorous League. The fastest time, whether male or female will be counted for 5 year age bands between 40-65, but only females for the 35-39 category. If there is no team finisher in an age group, then an otherwise non counting older category member can count. Unfilled scorers will receive last place points.

Weekly Team points are allocated based on the cumulative scores. Those with the lowest count get 1, those with the most get 7.

In addition we will continue to use the results for the virtual Grand Prix - members will be included in the same leagues as for the main GP - points calculated on same bais - i.e. 100 for first  - reducing by 80/number of weekly runners for subsequent places. Last person will always score more than 20.
